About the Role

Our client are a local government organisation based in Richmond VIC. They are currently seeking a Finance Officer - Accounts Receivable to come in and join their team on a temp contract opportunity until 22nd May 2026 with possible extensions.

Candidates for this role must have:

  • Proven end to end Accounts Receivable processing experience
  • Knowledge of Technology One System
  • Previous local or state government experience (Desirable)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accounts Receivable Management: Execute the full debtor lifecycle by raising sundry invoices, processing journals, and running aging analysis reports to ensure timely revenue collection.

  • System Integrity & Data Maintenance: Maintain the accuracy of the Technology One and Proclaim systems, ensuring all debtor information and revenue data remains reliable and up to date.

  • Debt Recovery & Query Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders to resolve billing discrepancies and proactively follow up on outstanding or overdue invoices.

  • Financial Reconciliation & Reporting: Perform monthly reconciliations of all debtor control accounts and provide accurate financial reports to management to support departmental oversight.

  • Process Improvement & Policy Development: Document, review, and streamline accounts receivable workflows to improve efficiency and recommend policy updates to the Revenue Services Team Leader.

  • Strategic Planning & Best Practice: Contribute to unit operational plans and stay informed of industry innovations to ensure service delivery meets quality management and client service targets.

  • Climate Leadership & Corporate Responsibility: Embed climate considerations into financial activities to support Council’s commitment to a climate-resilient future and emissions reduction.

About You

You will be an experienced Accounts Receivable Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Proven end to end Accounts Receivable processing experience
  • Knowledge of Technology One System
  • Previous local or state government experience (Desirable)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance
